Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Child, Youth and Family Support Services division. The Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Support Services division administers the Family Wellbeing Service, Family Participation Program, Early Learning Program and the Kinship and Foster Care programs within the South East Qld region.
About the Role
The Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making (AFLDM) program is based on traditional family values where the responsibility for bringing up children is shared by parents together with extended family and community and guided by the wisdom and experience of elders.
AFLDM encourages family members, extended family, Elders, Significant others in the child’s life and where appropriate the child and/or young person, to meet and make decisions about the safety and wellbeing of children and/or young people who are involved in the Child Protection system.
As a Family Connections Worker (FPP), you will work collaboratively with practitioners and teams to strengthen case practice with Aboriginal children and families, in order to provide effective service delivery and to support other practitioners. This position is responsible for co-convening Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making meetings for Aboriginal clients to develop plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of Aboriginal children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes. This is a full time position at our Burleigh office.
