QATSICPP has submitted its final response to the Commission of Inquiry into Queensland’s Child Safety system. Titled Community-led, Reform-ready, the submission sets out a decision-ready reform package to shift Queensland from late, fragmented responses to a system grounded in early support, cultural authority and shared responsibility.
This important work is grounded in the knowledge, expertise and cultural authority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations across Queensland.
Over the Inquiry, QATSICPP has undertaken extensive engagement, consultation and yarning with over 150 representatives from child, youth and family services member organisations to inform submissions and recommendations to Commissioner Paul Aanastassiou.
Meanwhile, the Inquiry has continued to conduct hearings across Queensland, including in Toowoomba, where QATSICPP member organisation Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Co. provided evidence.
This final submission brings together QATSICPP’s recommendations into a cohesive reform package with practical, implementable actions to strengthen early intervention, shift decision-making and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
Community-led, Reform-ready represents not just a submission, but a clear path forward—one that is community led, culturally grounded and focused on long-term, sustainable change.
