The Thriving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Initiative (TATSICI) Strategy outlines QATSICPP’s vision for strengthening systems that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in their first 2000 days.
Grounded in the voices and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations, the strategy recognises culture as a critical protective factor for children’s wellbeing, identity and development, and emphasises the importance of culturally strong, community-led approaches to early childhood development.
Through this work, QATSICPP seeks to partner with communities, governments, and the sector to create lasting change that supports children, families and communities to thrive.
The strategy was developed through consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with key insights and outcomes captured in the Knowledge Circle Report, which informed the priorities and direction of the work. TATSICI focuses on driving system-level change across early childhood to better align policy, investment and service delivery with the needs and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
While the strategy identifies opportunities for practical actions, its primary aim is to influence how systems operate – supporting greater investment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisations, strengthening prevention and early support, and reducing the need for statutory system involvement.
