Who can submit a nomination? Anyone can submit a nomination for the four categories: 1. Cultural Leadership, 2.Practice Excellence, 3. Innovation within the Sector and 4. Youth Advocacy.
QATSICPP Members are able to nominate a family in the Family Award category
Who can be nominated? Individuals and Teams working in QATSICPP Member Organisations
Can I nominate someone in more than one category? Yes, please submit a separate form for each category
Important Note for the nominating Organisation
Nominating Organisation responsibilities for the Cultural Leadership Award, Practice Excellence Award, Innovation within the Sector Award and Youth Advocacy Award Nominations:
- For all nominees in each of the 4 Award Categories, it will be the responsibility of the nominating organisation to provide accommodation, travel and pay for the Awards Dinner ticket/registration. QATSICPP will provide a ticket to the Awards Dinner for the Award Winner. This will be reimbursed to the nominating organisation within 21 days after the Awards Night on 2 December 2022.

Award Categories
- Cultural Leadership: this award is to recognise an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled child protection worker who has demonstrated outstanding cultural leadership and mentoring within the workplace and/or community.
- Keeping the rights and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families at the front and centre in all the work the nominee does.
- Promote self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander values and culture are evident in all the work the nominee does, and they provide mentorship to others to do the same.
- Practice Excellence: this award is to recognise an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled child protection worker who has demonstrated best practice in their direct service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and/or families.
- Work within a strong cultural practice framework, implementing the QATSICPP Practice Standards and/or the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (5 elements) and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Led Decision Making.
- Demonstrate the importance of building strong relationships with children and their families to establish a new storyline.
- Show strong commitment to supporting families to identify their own solutions and ways to achieve this.
- Innovation within the Sector: this award is to recognise an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled child protection worker who has demonstrated innovation within the sector to achieve best outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
- Deliver innovative and best practice responses to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families
- Draws upon Active Efforts, that is being timely, active, thorough and affirmative, in all areas of their service delivery.
- Works in collaboration with stakeholders and community members to ensure that the service/s they are providing meets the safety and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families.
- Youth Advocacy: this award is to recognise an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled child protection worker who has demonstrated best outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people through strong advocacy skills.
- Advocate for for the voices of children and young people to be heard in all decisions made about them
- Reduce stigma and shame by encouraging youth within the nominee’s community to be proud of their identity and their mob.
- Being raised by family and having a strong connection to culture and community is at the heart of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people’s perception of permanence, belonging and identity.
