Justine is proud Gangulu woman (the traditional custodians of Mt Morgan in Central Queensland), who grew up on Darumbal country (Rockhampton) and in Meanjin (Brisbane) with a strong connection to her family and culture.
Justine comes from a long line of Aboriginal activists and advocates who have instilled in her a deep sense of pride and a fierce determination to champion the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and our communities.
Throughout her career in the child, youth and family space, Justine has worked within both the Government and non-Government sector. She brings with her a strong background in Child Protection and is passionate about addressing the over representation of our families and young people this space.
Justine is currently working on the Families Caring for Families project at QATSICPP – which is a viable alternative to traditional foster and kinship care programs. Families Caring for Families will provide the opportunity for our communities to be supported to care for our future generations and keep our children out of the statutory system.
