Justin draws is Aboriginal and Torres Strait connection from his mother as a proud descendant of the Birri-Gubba Juru (Bowen), Janga (Mt Coolon) and Birri (Collinsville) peoples in North Queensland. Also, on his mother’s side he has strong ties to Ugar Island in the Torres Strait. His father is a Darumbal man from Rockhampton who has connections to Santo Island in Vanuatu.

With his strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait upbringing Justin has spent most of his career working in programs and policy areas of the Queensland Government, to improve the way government works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families engaged in the criminal justice system.

Justin aims to give back to community and use his skills, knowledge, and support networks to influence government to see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practices, protocols are our way of life and can co-exist to improve their systems for his people. To help with this journey Justin is also completing a Bachelor of Laws at QUT.
