Dean has family connections to the Nughi people of the Quandamooka nation and has over 15 years’ experience working in senior policy and operational roles – predominantly in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs.

He has worked in Child Protection where he played key roles in the government’s response to the Commission for Children and Young People’s ‘Indigenous Child Placement Principle Audit Report 2008’ and the Child Safety Taskforce to address the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the chid protection system. Dean’s near twenty year public sector experience, knowledge and skills enable him to collaborate effectively in complex cross-sectoral environments.

Dean leads our Sector Development team to drive sector capability initiatives which build on the strengths of our members and their staff.  He also supports the sustainability of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisations.
