170+ Sector staff join QATSICPP’s first Knowledge Bites webinar
At lunchtime on Thursday 18 May 2023, QATSICPP was honoured to host our first Knowledge Bites webinar in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS). The Knowledge Bites webinar series is designed to help increase Sector knowledge about key topics, to aid in the important work Member Organisations and their staff do supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families. We were amazed by the Sector response with more than 170 registered attendees linking in to hear Michael Schmidt, ATSILS Brisbane Child Protection Legal Practitioner, share his knowledge and expertise in the legal field.
Michael’s focus was assisting the Sector to understand first contact between Child Safety and families and why this may be occurring.
The webinar also explored practice hints and tips for practitioners who work with families interacting with Child Safety during Investigation, Assessment and Intervention with Parental Agreement (IPA), with an overarching message expanding on parental rights.
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with 95% of feedback respondents reporting that the information presented was extremely relevant to their work, and that the information was clear and concise.
“[The webinar] gave opportunity to hear about [this] Topic and review my understanding of CP Act and sections that relate to ‘protecting our children’ to keep them out of the system.”
QATSICPP together with ATSILS look forward to delivering more learning opportunities to the Sector to create meaningful change, for the benefit of our children, young people, and families.
