Active Efforts Guide
QATSICPP is proud to release Active Efforts in Practice – a guide to assist practitioners working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and families across the child and family wellbeing space.
Changes to the Child Protection Act will come into effect in May 2023 which include a requirement for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle to be implemented to the standard of active efforts. QATSICPP advocated for these amendments and welcomes them. The Active Efforts in Practice guide has been updated to reflect the legislative definition of active efforts as purposeful, thorough and timely efforts that aim to maintain or reunite an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander child with his or her family.
QATSICPP is a strong advocate for active efforts in practice so will continue rolling out information sessions across the state for the community controlled sector to help practitioners actualise their active efforts in the work they do.
