Update from the Centre of Excellence
A hub of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and wisdom
QATSICPP is thrilled to announce that Candice Butler has been appointed the inaugural Director of our new Centre of Excellence.
Candice is a proud Aboriginal woman with strong family connections to Yarrabah in Far North Queensland. She is passionate about ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have true self-determination and authority over decisions that are made about their lives.
Candice has been with QATSICPP for over seven years and has led substantive policy and practice reforms that have resulted in improved practice and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. This has included provision of significant leadership in the design, delivery, management, and evaluation of projects to improve child and family wellbeing across Queensland.
As a Social Worker with over 15 years’ experience working across government and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs and with postgraduate qualifications in education and evaluation, Candice is well placed to provide the cultural authority and leadership for the Centre of Excellence.
This appointment and the leadership that Candice will provide will ensure that QATSICPP realises its vision of building our own strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander evidence base that demonstrates what works in supporting our children and families to have strong social and emotional wellbeing.
Please join us in congratulating Candice on this appointment.
