Solid Voices of Tomorrow – Cairns Trip
Last week, Lucas Moore made a trip to Cairns to yarn with some amazing First Nations young adults. A road trip to Mareeba to spend time with Simeon on Muluridji Country. Simeon participated in the Solid Voices project, co-lead by fellow QATSICPP legend, Sheree Hilt.
Lucas was lucky enough to also spend time with Jenny Parsons from Mulungu Aboriginal Corporation Primary Health Care Service, together with Arnold Simpson. Arnold is QATSICPP Program Officer who works collaboratively with Northern Queensland community-controlled organisations.
Lucas yarned with two more First Nations young adults who also participated in the Solid Voices project, Gullara and Jacinta (pictured with Lucas).
It was only a little trip, but when asked what he took most away from his time with young Mob, Lucas reflected; “it has been so rewarding to get to know these young people, to watch them grow, stand tall and speak up. They’ve inspired me with their bravery and warmed my heart with how they create space for each other and embrace their differences.”
