This paper outlines the position of the Family Matters Queensland Leaders Group and aims to provide the basis for the action plan. It sets out all the issues in addressing the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in the child protection system in Queensland, and outlines all the areas in which action is required to address this problem. It aims to establish a comprehensive framework for addressing the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care, and the associated disparity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander families not having equitable access to suitable services (including universal and secondary support services).
