The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Phillip Brooks as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 1 September 2025.
Mr Brooks is a proud descendant of the Bidjara Tribe through his great-grandfather, the Kairi Tribe through his great-grandmother, and the Ducabrook Clan of Springsure in Central Queensland. He brings to the role a profound cultural connection and over two decades of leadership experience in Justice, Education, Children, and Youth Services within the Queensland Government. His previous roles include Deputy Director-General of Corporate and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services, Deputy Director-General of Corporate, Strategy, and Operations at the Department of Youth Justice, and Commissioner at the Queensland Family and Child Commission.
Lizzie Adams, Chairperson of the QATSICPP Board, welcomed the appointment: “I am honoured to welcome Mr Brooks to the leadership of QATSICPP. His extensive experience and unwavering commitment to justice and child and youth wellbeing will be instrumental as we continue our mission to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and improve outcomes for children and families across Queensland.”
QATSICPP plays a vital role as Queensland’s Peak Body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection and Youth Justice. The organisation is deeply committed to advancing culturally safe, community-led solutions that reflect the strengths, knowledge, and aspirations of First Nations peoples. Through advocacy, policy development, sector capacity building, and strategic partnerships, QATSICPP works to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children grow up safe, connected to culture, and surrounded by community.
Over the years, QATSICPP has been a driving force behind systemic reform, championing the rights of children and families and amplifying the voices of community-controlled organisations. Its work continues to shape government policy, influence legislative change, and support frontline services in delivering culturally responsive care.
With Mr Brooks at the helm, QATSICPP is in position to deepen its impact, strengthen its partnerships, and continue leading transformative change for children, young people and families throughout Queensland.
