Solid Voices Youth Council
The Solid Voices Youth Council (SVYC) is a platform for QATSICPP to work with seven deadly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people from across Queensland that are directly engaged with our members. Together, we will amplify the voices of children and young people in our work, grow our young leaders of tomorrow and work together to ensure that services, policies, and systems work for our children and young people now and into the future.
Stay connected with the Solid Voices Youth Council and follow our journey on the QATSICPP website. For enquiries, please email our team at SVYC@qatsicpp.com.au.
Meet our Youth Policy Officer
Walanbarra Yanner is a proud Gangalidda woman from Moungibi (Burketown) in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Walanbarra joined the QATSICPP team at the beginning of 2024 as our Youth Policy Officer, where she leads the development and implementation of the Solid Voices Youth Council. Walanbarra’s journey with QATSICPP began in 2021 when she became a young consultant with the Solid Voices of Tomorrow Advisory Group (2021–2023). As part of this initiative, she was one of many inspiring young voices who contributed to the co-creation of the Solid Voices of Tomorrow Guide, resource for Community Controlled Organisations working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
Walanbarra is passionate about ensuring the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth are heard, valued, and represented in shaping policies and systems. She is excited to bring the vision of the Solid Voices Youth Council to life and create meaningful, lasting change for future generations of young people.
