QATSICPP recently made a submission to the development of Queensland Trauma Strategy. The Queensland Mental Health Commission is leading the development of the strategy, which is focused on the prevention of trauma, improving the supports provided to people who have experienced trauma (and their families and friends), and reducing the long term impact on individuals and the Queensland community.
QATSICPP’s submission is focused on what a trauma informed strategy in Queensland will require for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families and communities to be afforded changed systems and responses to support them to thrive.
Our submission calls for greater truth telling about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ unique experience of trauma, a greater investment in healing responses and realising an obligation across systems to do no more harm.
